CAMPYLITE

A quartz matrix with a thin coating of a black manganese oxide over which has developed a number of bright orange barrel shaped crystals of campylite.

This specimen is from the collection of the Philadelphia Academy of Science, USA #7877 and carries an original label?but incorrect location.
